...Does anyone else like the version of the Lakers we've seen the last two games FAR more than any other "look" they've shown us this year?
Don't get me wrong...Kobe makes us special. He's a miracle worker at times, his fierce dedication makes even the concept of slacking unthinkable for his teammates. You'd need a calculator to add up the total number of Laker games where he has been THE difference between winning and losing.
HOWEVER...
The ball movement, the balanced offense, the DEFENSE (especially the defense!) to me has looked better the last two games than it has all season. Hell, even Fisher has played like he's five years younger lately! :-)
I REALLY REALLY hope Kobe is watching this and it's computing in his brain...as it seemed to do when he was out with injuries at the start of the 99-00 season and again in 2001. He needs to realize again that he has teammates, at both ends of the court.

Goes both ways though. The rest of the team needs to realize that they can't play with less energy and involvement just because #24 is back to bail them out when the going gets tough.

Excellent point. I want to see that Lamar every night.

Phenomenal point, and one that should be made more often. Kobe definitely has his faults, but the rest of the team needs to figure it out and give their all...even when 24 is on the court.

not fair... two teams that arent on a championship level...

i do lol...they look like they are playing basketball instead of waiting around for kobe to finish his dribble and then maybe pass...this way the guys are moving more, the players are in their rhythm and are getting the ball on the right timing of offense sets...

if he can do this, it will be easy for the lakers in the next 2-3 years...it is all up to kobe ;)

Yes, absolutely. But I think Kobe's too stubborn and egotistical to have this really effect the team dynamic. IMO best we could hope for is a temporary effect.
-- In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.
What we've seen with the Lakers during the past few games with Kobe and Bynum out is just a smaller-scale version of what we've seen the Blazers do during the past few seasons. When you *know* you don't have your big guns, you try harder.

And I want to be the starting center for the Lakers with max contract...same chance of that happening as you getting your wish

"Every night" might be too much to ask for, but "when it's needed" might be more reasonable. In fact, Odom *has* delivered when it was needed more often than not during the past two seasons, most notably during the NBA Finals last year.

True dat! Conversely, however, Farmar's and Odom's drives looked better than ever. I fricking LOVING it when they were stuffing it down SA's throat and the old guys weren't even moving over to defend.

Let's face facts - Ron is not the best ball handler.
> not fair... two teams that arent on a championship level...
Good point. OTOH, before Saturday's game, the Lakers had four wins in Portland since 1999. Since 1999, they had also won four NBA championships. So wins in Portland are about as common as championships for the Lakers. : )
