Philippa Creagh Wood17 March 2010 at 17:16
My friend is looking for someone who would like to do this. Let me know if you are interested or know someone.
Pip
"Do you know anyone interested in a free two day hike and home-stay adventure to Mai Chau? We need one or two people to go on the trip so we can film a video for our website. It would be departing Wed morning 24th March and coming back Friday afternoon 26th. First night in a H'mong homestay (very basic!) and second night in a Thai homestay (still basic, but with flush toilets). I did it a couple of years ago and loved it."

 Dear All,

the 3rd Saturday of the month can only mean one thing.....the 5K time trial!

We'll be meeting at the UNIS main gate at 5pm. The usual format of a staggered start based on each runner's estimated time for the distance with the slowest time starting first. The aim being that we all come tumbling over the finish line at roughly the same time.

one of the better options for swimming that i have found is the asean hotel
on chua bac near the starbowl. it's upstairs, long enough to do laps and
often quiet during the day. the only problem, as is so often the case in
this city, is that finding out when it is open is not always easy.
chris

 What about that big lake?

Tie a big car tyre to the other end of the rope already tied around your waist, put on the breathing apparatus and you are away!

Actually, apart from the breathing apparatus there are old guys that do the tyre thing in the wee lake at the end of to Ngoc Van.

Less than 60,000 and no worries about losing count just swim there and back.

 Ginny,
Problem is that the pools open so late in the year and then close so soon after summer - you only get about 6 months swimming. I used Tay Ho Hotel pool last summer (30,000), getting there for its 6am opening, and it was pretty good, although it did get a fair few bobbers in it if you get there later on. There are a few other pools in the area as well - I swam one summer at the one in the hotel next door to Sedona - that was ok. The major international hotels are generally too small for serous laps and very expensive. I also heard last year that UNIS pool is available all year around but for only a few windows through the day. That may still apply.
